Agal Lighting

This is my painting girl Lighting Agal Vizhakku , 16 * 23 inches, oil painting on substrate canvas, available for sale. It took me about 10 days to finish this painting and get the effect of the dramatic light on her face and the room as it is lit by the lamp. The lamp alone took me one whole day and she is sitting in a temple so she is flanked by pillars in the front and back, which is a very tricky work to do. That took another day. This is a practice in the religion Hinduism to light lamps and there is a festival called Karthigai Dheepam where lamps are lit all over the house.
